From honouring members, sharing experiences, to a moving tribute to our recently passed senior statesmen, the NGIQ Annual Dinner held in Brisbane was a night to reflect, give thanks and look forward to the future. Master of Ceremonies, Alistair Pritchard, welcomed over 100 guests, introduced new CEO, Ian Atkinson and thanked outgoing EO, Kerry Battersby.
Five Life Members attended the Dinner, including Peter Radke, who came from Cairns to attend the night, Don Fischle, Russ Higginbotham, Bruce Naylor and Peter Young. An apology from Marcus Petersen was read and many members appreciated his sentiments.
Special guest speakers, Hilton & Tracy Blake from Garden Retail Success, shared their life journey and enjoyment at working in the nursery industry.
Greg and Lenore Howard of Glasshouse Mountains Nursery were recognised for their 40 years of NGIQ membership. Garden City Plastics celebrated 30 years of membership and Brian Durham spoke about the values and longevity of being a successful family business.
Tributes flowed to recently passed Kevin Holmes, F. David Hockings AM, and Frank Hart as the room stood to applaud these industry legends. The night closed with a band, dancing and a celebration of 2017.
