Three local Queensland garden media personalities have been featured in the new book by Victorian author Anne Vale.
This beautifully illustrated reference book, Influential Australian Garden People: their stories follows the influences of our current generation of garden writers, media personalities and garden designers.
Local Queensland garden guest speakers and media gurus Annette McFarlane (radio and print) and Paul Plant (radio, print, television and social media) are recognised as
‘Garden Shapers’ who have been promoting and inspiring garden making, horticulture and plant collecting for many years in Queensland with an emphasis on providing information that is pertinent to regional and very local conditions.
Other ‘Garden Shapers’ featured are Jane Edmanson, Josh Byrne, John Rayner, Tim Entwisle, Merilyn Kuchel and Stephen Ryan.
In addition to the eight ‘Garden Shapers’, there are eleven ‘Garden Creators’ including landscape architect Arno King, the only Queenslander on the list. Other ‘Garden Creators’ featured include Fiona Brockhoff, Grady Brand, Paul Bangay, Myles Baldwin, Janine Mendel, Andrew Laidlaw, Philip Johnson, Kate Cullity, Jim Fogarty and Michael Bligh.
Influential Australian Garden People is a book full of personal stories gleaned and gathered by listening to some of Australia’s most influential garden people. This generation represents a fundamental shift in the values and beliefs attached by our society to nature, landscape and cultivated spaces.
